Yes, memories of a day when the All Blacks would “Tour” the Northern climes, playing at such tropical destination as Pontypool and Llanelli, places that are curious enough to spell, let alone pronounce!
Nevertheless, waking up and heading to the Television (Yes, these were around in those days), Father and Son would find sporting emancipation as the All Blacks would appear, taking on a local team, with a difficult name, as this local team, experiencing the highlight of their careers, was beamed from a Northern winter to our Southern home, pressing on toward Summer.
If this reads a little like it is from another world, in our rugbying context, such a sense would seem to be true. With rugby seeking to meet the demands of a professional era, these moments, etched into a memory, are becoming not as frequent-to-familiar, as this by-gone era of rugby is to today’s fantastic rugby facsimile.
However, each year, while the rugby may play different, we are given the opportunity to experience those historic family bonding moments, where for the love of the All Blacks, households will rise (some will stay the night), as adrenalin-inducing excitement will encourage midday moments of exuberance.
This Sunday Morning, around 3 am (NZ Time), as our All Blacks take on the South African Springboks, live and exclusive from a Soweto Soccer Stadium, we are given the opportunity to do it all again!
As we all prepare for this reality, we would love to hear any thoughts about what is about to unfold, but particularly those reflections describing how you are going to be experiencing this All Black International moment.
Are you going to be seeing it through to 3am… or will you have your alarm clock set, ready for that sound of buzzing hell to bring you back to the world of the living?
We would also love to hear any early morning All Black reflections that stick out in the life of your living!
For me, I am planning on holding the fort and seeing it through. I will be tweeting away to help maintain my sanity, and allowing the anticipation and excitement of the moment to encourage me on!
Therefore, I encourage you to join me on Twitter if you are seeing it through, and if you can multi-task, while the boys are putting their All Black-hood on the line against the Bokke Usurpers, we can tweet the experience one 140 character message at a time!
Now it is up to you to share your insights.
Just so you know that we really want to read you, here are your instructions… stuck on repeat…
1) How will you be watching this All Blacks vs Bokke Test in the middle of the night? Describe what will be going down!
2) If you have any All Black early morning reflections, we would love to get an inside look into this early morning world!
We are waiting… Time is on our side, 3am “is” a long ways away… *Yawn*
I look forward to reading… and responding!
Until Next Time
